More Dups Products to Consider

Last week we gave you a refresher on some Dups policies, especially those that might not have had a policy ever, and are considering doing the right thing this year. We also thought it would help those that might be thinking to changing their plans. Today we continue to shine the spotlight on more of our products.
These days the border gates will be bursting at the seams with people flocking in and out of the country either going to school or work as there are Swazis who have found homes somewhere else and non-Swazis who have made Swaziland their home. Dups understands the yearning that people have to be buried in their home countries, despite choices they would have made about where to settle in their living years. The Homelink Cover Plan is there to bring back home foreign-based Swazis who meet their death outside the kingdom and send people of other nationalities here in Swaziland to their homelands. To date we have facilitated repatriation of remains to Zimbabwe, South Africa, Finland, Australia, Pakistan, and back to Swaziland, among others.
We are also aware of the many associations formed by foreign residents. It is quite heartwarming to observe how they look out for each other when one of their own passes away. Often, compatriots pool funds together to enable the repatriation of the deceased back to the home country.
There is, however, a better way of doing things. Instead of people always convening and getting a cent from this one, E10 from that one and E35 from the next following a loss, the whole association could just come together and have a group policy. How do you do that? Just get in touch with us to come and do a group presentation and we will quickly and easily facilitate a plan. There are advantages that come with that, and you would have peace of mind knowing that should there be a loss, all the bases are covered. You only meet your fellow compatriots to commiserate, not to fork out.
The reality of the situation is that some of these people from foreign lands have already taken policies to cover their families, and they understandably get disgruntled when they are requested to make contributions towards the repatriation of a countryman who opted not to get a policy. It’s just hard for people to vocalize their disillusionment with those without funeral plans at such a solemn time.
When our loved ones are gone, we still want to preserve the good memories we shared with them. We have the Tribute Cover Plan, which can be taken by an individual policy holder or the policy holder and his/her spouse. The Tribute Cover Plan pays out cash to the nominated beneficiary, enabling them to put up a memorial in the form of a tombstone, statue or any other form of tribute for the deceased. You can also use the money paid out to hold a memorial service and pay for associated costs, like catering.

Dups Family Support Plan provides security for your family

All roads will be leading to school this week after very long holidays. The beginning of the school year comes with many challenges, most of them being financial. During the festive season, which is sometimes termed the silly season for a reason, people spend more money than they should. It might be out of necessity or due to the excitement of seeing a brand new year, but it usually takes some doing to recover from debts. It can become a downward spiral, but with with right strategy, most people do make a quick recovery.

This past week there was a discussion on a certain radio show centered around people’s financial standings based on their saving and spending habits. Some said they spent wisely and had breezed in the New Year with no debts, no fear, and no regrets. Another guy called in and said he had defaulted on all his bills for two months. That means he has started 2017 with this dark cloud hanging over his head. It would not be surprising that this man’s financial crisis will persist to the end of the year.
Sadly for some children in our communities, there is no recovery from the financial problems. There have been quite a few stories of children who did very well at school but are failing to proceed to the next level for lack of funds. This usually happens their parents are deceased, and it is always a sad situation to see an intelligent child’s dreams for a good education and secure future crushed. What arrangements have you made for your loved ones in the event something happens to you now?
Dups believes in dignity in death and dignity in life. It is not a good thing to give a person a majestic funeral only for the same person’s family to be left in undignified circumstances because the breadwinner is gone. To avoid situations where families are left wallowing in poverty, we came up with the Dups Family Support Plan. This plan ensures that after the main policy holder’s passing, his or her children are still able to go to school and have a plate of warm food on their tables until the winding of the estate. Premiums start from E12.50 for a cover of up to E30 000. Your family would not need to start asking for handouts immediately after your passing. The pain of losing a parent is even more accentuated when there is loss of a stable income for the family as well.
The movie Ghost, starring the late Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg comes to mind. There is a scene where Goldberg’s character would be possessed and become a medium between living people and their dead relatives. One woman came to shout at her late husband asking him why he hadn’t made financial arrangements for the family, and where he had left important documents. Although hilariously portrayed, it would be true to most families that are left in desperate financial circumstances. In their sorrow, they will probably wish you had been more thoughtful and made arrangements for the family to be sustained following your passing.
We encourage you to always be up to date with your premiums to avoid having your policy cancelled. There is a 12 month waiting period for the Family Support Plan. This means the product will not cover death that is due to natural causes if it occurs within the first 12 months from taking up the policy. Death that is due to an accident is covered immediately after payment of the premium.
